Dr Giles Carden

Dr. Giles Carden currently serves as the Chief Strategy Officer and Chief of Staff at the University of Southampton, a position held since May 2023. Prior roles include Chief of Staff and Director of Strategic Projects at Lancaster University from October 2017 to April 2023, and Director of Strategic Planning & Analytics at the University of Warwick from February 2000 to October 2017, where responsibilities encompassed the development of strategic planning frameworks, research planning, resource allocation, and performance management. Dr. Carden has also held the role of Consultant Director of Product Strategy during a secondment at Thomson Reuters and has academic experience as a Research Fellow at Ruhr-Universität Bochum. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Geochemistry from the University of Liverpool and further studies in Artificial Intelligence for Business Strategy at MIT Sloan School of Management.
