Lawrence Smith

Lawrence Smith has a diverse work experience in the education field. Lawrence started as a high school teacher in the Whittier Union High School District in 1986. Lawrence then worked as an assistant principal in the Montebello Unified School District from 1999 to 2006. Following that, they served as a principal in the San Lorenzo Unified School District from 2006 to 2014. In 2014, they briefly held the position of Senior Director of Assessment, Accountability, and Evaluation in the San Diego County Office of Education. From 2015 to 2019, Lawrence worked as the Director of Research, Evaluation, and Pupil Records in the Compton Unified School District. Currently, they are Vice Principal in the San Bernardino City Unified School District, starting their role in 2020.

Lawrence Smith obtained a Bachelor's Degree in History and Psychology from Loyola Marymount University in 1985. Lawrence went on to pursue a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Educational Leadership and Administration, General from Whittier College, completing their degree in 2001. In May 2016, they also obtained a California Administrative Services Credential from Whittier College and a California Single Subject Teaching Credential from Loyola Marymount University.
