Jeffrey Vandersip has extensive work experience in law enforcement and academia. Jeffrey began their career in 2005 as a Detention Processing Supervisor at the San Diego County Sheriff's Office, where they worked until 2007. From 2007 to 2010, they served as a Crime Analyst before being promoted to the role of Senior Crime Analyst from 2010 to 2013. In 2013, Vandersip became a Senior Crime & Intelligence Analyst, specializing in Investigative Genetic Genealogy cases. In 2015, they joined San Diego State University as a Lecturer.
Jeffrey Vandersip holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Urban Studies/Affairs from San Diego State University.
