Joel Watts

Joel Watts is an experienced audio professional currently serving as the Audio Director at the San Diego Symphony since May 2021. Prior to this role, Joel worked with the Boston Symphony Orchestra as an Associate Audio Engineer/Assistant Recording Engineer from June 2013 to May 2021, specializing in live sound reinforcement and recordings for concerts and broadcasts. Joel's earlier experience includes serving as Lead Sound Engineer at Bethany Lane Baptist Church, where responsibilities included live mixing and audio system maintenance, and engaging as an Audio Engineer at The Peabody Conservatory, focusing on concert recordings. Joel's internships at Conifer Games and PopMark Media provided foundational experience in sound design and editing. Educational achievements include a Master's Degree in Audio Sciences and two Bachelor's Degrees in Recording Arts and Sciences and Music Performance from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University.
