Audio Department Head at San Diego Symphony

RJ Givens is currently the Audio Department Head at the San Diego Symphony. Rj has over 20 years of experience in the audio industry, working as an audio engineer, designer, and department head.

RJ started their career in 2002 as an assistant audio engineer at Moonlight Stage Productions. Rj then moved on to become an audio engineer at Sound Productions in 2009. In 2015, they became the head of audio for the Lowell Davies Festival Theatre at The Old Globe. Rj held this position until 2021 when they took their current position at the San Diego Symphony.

RJ has designed audio for over 30 productions, including 12th Night, Comedy of Errors, Macbeth, Loves Labors Lost, King Richard II, Hamlet, The Tempest, and Much Ado About Nothing. Rj is a member of IATSE Local 122 and the owner of Drummerguy Music, Audio, and Lighting.

Rj Givens works with Adam Day - Head Carpenter, Tim Forsythe - Associate Director of Production, and Diane Littlejohn - Venue Operations Manager. Their manager is Travis Wininger, VP of Venue Operations.
