Denise brings more than two decades of teaching experience to the SFGMC Board. In addition to serving as a current instructor with Stanford Continuing Studies, she spent fifteen years at Foothill College in Los Altos Hills, CA. Denise has taught introductory micro- and macroeconomics, business, and accounting, and enjoys making these topics fun and relevant to sometimes hesitant or skeptical students.
An active volunteer in her community, Denise has served on a wide range of boards. These include the Children’s Health Council, Commonwealth Club Silicon Valley INFORUM, Los Altos Downtown Revitalization Task Force, and Los Altos Village Association. She supported Bay Area Women’s Sports Initiative (BAWSI) as a marketing and communications volunteer and focused on education start-ups as a partner at Silicon Valley Social Venture Fund (SV2). Denise has also tutored and mentored high school and college students through Eastside Preparatory High School, Peninsula Bridge, and Summer Search.
Denise holds a BA in economics and business from UCLA, an MBA from UCLA’s Anderson School of Management, and is a certified public accountant. She can often be found walking two large dogs, playing tennis, and typing on her phone.
