Tamar Dorfman is a seasoned finance professional with extensive experience in leadership roles across various organizations. Currently serving as Chief Financial Officer at the San Francisco Housing Accelerator Fund since July 2020, Tamar has previously held similar CFO positions at the Public Health Institute from 2012 to 2020 and PolicyLink from 2009 to 2012. Additional experience includes serving as Chief Financial Officer at the Mayor's Office of Housing and Community Development in the City and County of San Francisco and Finance Manager for National Programs at the Corporation for Supportive Housing. Earlier in the career, Tamar worked as a Principal Budget Analyst for the City of Chicago and began professional life as a social studies teacher at Castro Valley High School. Educational achievements include an AB and AM in Political Science and Education from Stanford University, as well as a Master of Public Policy (MPP) from the Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago, where Tamar was a recipient of fellowships at both institutions.

The Housing Accelerator Fund (the HAF) is an innovative nonprofit lender and Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI). Established in 2017 by the San Francisco Mayor’s Office of Housing and Community Development, we create public-private partnerships and leverage private, philanthropic, and public capital to stem displacement of low-income and working families and accelerate the production of new affordable housing across the Bay Area.
