Adine Varah serves as General Counsel at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art since February 2015, providing legal, strategic, and ethical guidance to the museum's leadership and managing the in-house legal team. In addition to this role, Adine Varah is a Lecturer in Law at Stanford Law School, co-teaching a course on Art and the Law that explores various legal and ethical issues within the art world. Previously, Adine Varah worked as Deputy City Attorney for the City and County of San Francisco, representing municipal arts and cultural institutions, and held positions as Staff Attorney at Yale University and Associate at Choate, Hall & Stewart. Adine Varah earned a Doctor of Law (J.D.) from Columbia Law School and a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art and American Studies from Stanford University.
