Maureen Singleton has extensive work experience in various roles related to budget management and leadership. Maureen began their career as a Case Worker for Senator Dianne Feinstein in 1995 and worked there until 1997. Maureen then worked as an Economist for the Bureau of Labor Statistics from 1997 to 1999. In 1999, they interned at the American Cancer Society.

Singleton joined the San Francisco Board of Supervisors as a Budget Analyst in 2000 and held this position until 2002. Maureen then became a Budget Manager at the San Francisco Department of Public Health from 2002 to 2005.

In 2005, Singleton returned to the San Francisco Public Library and served as a Budget Manager & Acting CFO until 2009. Maureen then moved to the San Francisco Department of Public Works and worked as a Budget Manager from 2009 to 2011.

Singleton's career at the San Francisco Public Library continued when they became the Chief Financial Officer from 2011 to 2019. After that, they took on the role of Acting Chief Operating Officer from 2018 to 2019. As Acting COO, they collaborated with the operations team and facilitated effective leadership in finance, research analytics, human resources, informational technology, and facilities.

Throughout their career, Singleton has consistently demonstrated their expertise in budget management and their ability to lead and empower teams.

Maureen Singleton obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo from 1990 to 1994. Maureen then pursued a Master of Public Affairs degree at the University of Washington from 1998 to 2000.
