Ruth Huard

Dean, Professional & Global Education at San Jose State University

Ruth Huard is the current Dean of Professional & Global Education at San Jose State University. Prior to their current position, Ruth served as an Assistant Professor at the University of Hawaii at Manoa from 2003-2009 in the School of Communications and Communication and Information Sciences. Ruth's research and teaching areas included emerging interfaces, distributed work/learning environments, application and practice of human-computer interaction, and user-research methods. Ruth also served as graduate chair during their time at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, advising and mentoring undergraduates and graduates in all aspects of student life.

From 1999-2003, Ruth served as Vice President at WorldRes, leading the division responsible for conceptualizing and implementing designs in the product line, including consumer e-commerce sites, business-to-business web applications, and internal web-based development tools. Ruth also directed product research (usability testing, product/services analysis) during their time at WorldRes.

From 1996-1999, Ruth served as Director at Extempo Systems.

Ruth Huard earned their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from Stanford University and their Bachelor's degree from Claremont McKenna College.
