John Thompson

John Thompson has served on the San Juan College Board of Trustees since 2010, representing district 5.

Thompson is a partner in Walsh Engineering and Production Corporation, an engineering and oil and gas firm operating in the San Juan Basin.

Following graduation from Farmington High School, Thompson attended New Mexico State University (NMSU) where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Geological Engineering in 1991.

Thompson has worked and lived in Wyoming, Utah, Texas, Illinois, Nevada, New Mexico as well as Canada before moving to Farmington with Halliburton Energy Services. He joined Walsh Engineering and Production Corporation in 1995.

Thompson is a former president of the local chapter of the American Petroleum Institute. He was President of the Independent Petroleum Association of New Mexico and still serves on their board of directors.

He served on the Resource Advisory Committee to the Bureau of Land Management as a energy representative.
