Laura Kasian

Laura Kasian began their work experience as a Research Assistant at The University of British Columbia in 2004, where they worked until 2011. Laura then joined Sony Pictures Imageworks as a Senior Production Services Technician from 2014 to 2015, followed by a role as Lead Production Pipeline Technician from 2015 to 2018. From 2018 to 2019, Laura worked as a Software Engineer at Sony Pictures Imageworks. In 2019, they transitioned to Amazon as a Software Development Engineer until 2020. Laura then joined Unity in 2020 as a Senior Software Engineer until 2022, where they were promoted to Manager, Machine Learning until 2023. Currently, Laura works as a Software Engineer at Sanctuary AI, starting in 2023.

Laura Kasian has a strong educational background. Laura earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Astrophysics from The University of British Columbia in 2012. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Physics from The University of Winnipeg in 2003. Later, in 2013, they pursued a Juris Doctor degree in Law from The University of British Columbia. Apart from their formal education, Laura also obtained a certification in Machine Learning from Coursera in November 2017.
