Zane Beckwith

Zane Beckwith has an extensive work experience in various roles and industries. In 2005, they started as a Research Assistant at the Low-Energy Accelerator Laboratory, Physics Dept. From 2007 to 2008, they worked as a Laboratory Manager at the Fluid Dynamics Laboratory, Applied Math Dept. In 2008, Zane became a Teaching Assistant at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a role they held until 2014. In 2013, they also served as a Graduate Assistant at the Computational Astronomy and Physics (CAP) Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU). In 2014, Zane transitioned to the industry and worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Lime Brokerage LLC until 2016. From 2016 to 2021, Zane held the role of Principal Product Architect and Director of Security at Xaptum, where they played a key role in designing and building core infrastructure components. In 2021, Zane joined DFINITY as a Software Engineer - Cryptography until December 2021. Currently, Zane is employed as a Senior Research Scientist at SandboxAQ.

Zane Beckwith has a strong educational background in the field of Physics. Zane obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Physics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2007. Continuing their studies at the same institution, Zane completed a Master of Science (MS) degree in Theoretical and Mathematical Physics from 2008 to 2011. Zane further pursued their academic journey at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Physics, specializing in Computational Statistical/Condensed Matter from 2008 to 2014.

In addition to their academic achievements, Zane also holds a certification as a Speaker from the Linux Foundation's Open Source Summit North America in 2020.
