Sondra Spence

Sondra Spence has been employed at Sandia National Laboratories since May 2009, currently serving as the Manager of Nuclear Security Engineering and as the Staff Focal Point for Gender Champions in Nuclear Policy. In this role, Sondra oversees Sandia's initiatives related to gender representation in the nuclear policy field. Additionally, Sondra leads the Engineering Program Project for International Nuclear Security, collaborating with over 70 subject matter experts to enhance global nuclear security through partnerships and capacity-building efforts. Previous positions include technical expert roles in physical protection systems and vulnerability assessments, along with responsibilities in business development for the International Nuclear Security Engineering portfolio. Sondra's academic background includes a Master's degree in Political Science with a focus on International Relations and National Security Studies from the University of New Mexico, where Sondra also worked as a graduate research and teaching assistant from 2013 to 2015.
