Deron Herr

Deron Herr is a Research Associate Professor at Sanford Burnham Prebys since April 2023, following a tenure as Senior Director of Biology at Ligature Therapeutics from July 2021 to March 2023. Herr previously held academic roles, including Associate Professor and Chief of Biochemistry at American University of Health Sciences, and served as Research Assistant Professor and Assistant Professor at the National University of Singapore. Extensive experience also includes a position as Assistant Research Professor at San Diego State University, co-founding Expression Drug Designs to lead the development of drug candidates targeting lipid signaling systems, and a research associate role at The Scripps Research Institute, where studies focused on bioactive signaling lipids and pharmacodynamic research. Herr obtained a Ph.D. in Cell/Cellular and Molecular Biology from UC San Diego and a B.S. in Biology from Truman State University.
