Celiwe Makhaya

Celiwe Makhaya has a diverse work experience spanning different companies and roles. Celiwe started their career as a Student Fleet Administrator at Eskom in 2005, where they were responsible for various fleet-related tasks. In 2009, they became a Trainee Venue Coordinator at Eskom.

Makhaya then joined Mercedes-Benz South Africa in 2011, starting as a Graduate in Training for various roles in After-Sales Service Operations, After-Sales Training, and Dealer After Market Support Management. Celiwe managed administrative tasks, supported line of business and dealers, and gained qualifications in Project Management.

In 2015, Makhaya joined Old Mutual Insure as a Senior Specialist Operational Support. Celiwe later took on roles as a Senior Project Manager IT and Senior Scrum Master, where they led software development teams, deployed IT solutions, and implemented agile principles and practices.

Most recently, Makhaya joined Sanlam in 2020 as a Senior Scrum Master. Celiwe drove the implementation of strategic initiatives using the SAFe Agile Framework, mentored lower level Scrum Masters, and developed various product types. Celiwe currently holds the position of Lead: IT Governance and Projects.

Overall, Makhaya has demonstrated expertise in project management, agile methodology, and operational support throughout their career.

Celiwe Makhaya has a strong educational background in business administration and management. Celiwe is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree at Henley Business School, with an expected completion in 2024. Prior to this, they completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Management Practice at Henley Business School from 2020 to 2021.

In 2016, Celiwe received training and certification in PRINCE2 project management from ANTS Project Management Training & Development. Celiwe also attended Stellenbosch Business School in 2013 and 2014, where they earned an Executive Development Certificate in Management Development Programme.

Before their higher education, Celiwe obtained a B-Tech degree in Operations Management from Tshwane University of Technology in 2009 and 2010. Celiwe had previously completed their National Diploma in Operations Management at the same institution from 2005 to 2009.

Celiwe's academic journey began at Bedfordview High School, where they obtained their Matric qualification in 2004.

In addition to their formal education, Celiwe Makhaya holds a certification as a Certified SAFe® 5 Scrum Master, obtained from Scaled Agile, Inc. in October 2020.
