John Alves

John Alves is an accomplished Information Security Architect currently employed at Brown & Brown Insurance since September 2024, with additional roles at the SANS Institute as a Teaching Assistant and as the Founder of LightSail Studios since March 2020. Previously, John served as Director of Cloud Security Services at CyberOne Security and held various positions at Critical Start, including Manager of Microsoft Services Principal Architect where expertise in KQL and security product training was developed. Additional experience includes a role as Security Architect at IBM and Charming Charlie, along with network engineering positions at NorthStar Memorial Group, Millar, Inc., and Exterran. John holds a Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity and Information Assurance from Western Governors University and has further completed an IT Network Systems Administrator course.
