Derek Masterson is an experienced athletic coach with a diverse background in sport-specific training and fire control. Currently serving as the Assistant Track and Field Coach at Westmont College, responsibilities include sprints, hurdles, jumps, throws, combined events, recruiting, and facility management. In addition to this role, Derek works as a Fire Control Worker for the Santa Barbara County Fire Department and as a Fitness Coach with DM, LLC, where management of corporate fitness and personal training is emphasized. Previous experience includes coaching elite athletes and technical throwing/jumping events at the Santa Barbara Track Club and serving in various coaching capacities at Santa Barbara Strength. Derek began their career in customer service as a server at Pure Joy Catering and has also worked in heavy machinery operation. Derek holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science from UC Santa Barbara.
