Joel Motaung (MCIPS, MBA) has over two decades of experience in supply chain management and operations. Starting in 1998 as a Junior Engineer at Circuit Breakers Industries Ltd., they gradually climbed the career ladder, taking on roles such as Production Process Engineer at Autoliv Southern Africa, Process Engineer at Kolbenco, and later transitioning to consultancy roles at SARS and Bogosi Consulting. With their expertise in process engineering, Joel transitioned to Accenture as a Senior Manager leading supply chain management and strategy projects. Joel then moved on to Airports Company South Africa as Head of SCM Performance Monitoring and Governance before joining Transnet SOC Ltd as a Senior Manager overseeing strategic sourcing and governance. Currently, Joel is the Head of Operations & Governance for Group Sourcing & Transformation at Santam Insurance. Throughout their career, they have consistently demonstrated leadership in developing and implementing supply chain strategies, managing budgets, ensuring compliance with regulations, and driving operational efficiencies.

Joel Motaung obtained a National Diploma in Industrial Engineering from the University of Johannesburg in 1997, followed by a B.Tech in Industrial Engineering in 2000. Joel then pursued a National Diploma in Information Systems in 2003 at the same institution. Joel later completed an Executive Development Programme at Wits Business School in 2012. Joel furthered their education by earning an MBA from Milpark Education in 2018. In 2020, they completed a Post Graduate Programme in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence at Great Learning. Joel recently obtained their MCIPS Certification from CIPS - The Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply in 2022. Joel also holds additional certification in "The Six Morning Habits of High Performers" from LinkedIn in 2021.
