Shawan Gillians

Shawan Gillians currently serves as the Chief Strategy and Communications Officer and Director of Sustainability at Santee Cooper since January 2023. Previously, Shawan held the position of Of Counsel at Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP from April 2022 to January 2023. Shawan's extensive experience at Santee Cooper includes roles as Director of Legal Services and Corporate Secretary, Treasurer, Interim Treasurer, and Associate General Counsel from June 2011 to April 2022. Prior to Santee Cooper, Shawan was an Associate at Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice PLLC and at Buist Moore Smythe McGee PA from September 2007 to June 2011. Shawan holds a Bachelor of Arts from Wofford College, a Juris Doctor from William & Mary Law School, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of South Carolina Darla Moore School of Business.
