Carel Opperman

Carel Opperman possesses extensive experience in procurement and sourcing, currently serving as the Regional Head Procurement at Sappi since May 2012. In this role, Carel manages all procurement activities, including imports and exports, with a significant budget of R5.6 billion under control. Previous positions include General Manager for Sourcing and General Manager of Sappi Trade SA, as well as General Manager for Sappi Exports Services, responsible for global export operations. A solid educational background comprises degrees and certifications in commercial procurement and business management from institutions including UNISA and the Chartered Institute of Secretaries and Administrators.
