Sara Story Design
Since founding her eponymous design firm, Sara Story has forged a reputation for imparting to all of her projects an ineffable style she can truly call her own. Drawing inspiration from extensive travels, an active interest in contemporary art and fashion, and a rigorous lifestyle, Sara wields a keen eye to exact her aesthetic vision: crisp, elegant, and comfortable gestures that thoughtfully balance multiple elements of good design for an everyday, polished life. Sara earned a B.F.A. from the University of San Diego and a degree in Interior Architecture from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Critical acclaim of her townhouse renovation at Gramercy Park propelled Sara onto the design world's radar, and Elle Décor named Sara one of the "Top 5 to Watch." NY Spaces named her to the Top 50 Designers in New York. In 2019 one of the firm's residential projects was named to The 1stdibs 50, and as a finalist in Interior Design's Best of the Year Awards. 2020 saw the firm named to the LUXE Gold List. Sara's projects have also been recognized in Architectural Digest, Interior Design, Galerie, LUXE, Aspire, The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times to name a few. Sara is a Board Member of Ballroom Marfa, a contemporary art space in Marfa, Texas, with a focus on allowing freedom of artistic expression through culturally impactful art. She is also an active member of the America's Society and the Design Leadership Network. Always dynamic, the firm continues to work on residential and commercial projects worldwide and maintains several successful product collaborations. In 2012, Sara launched a wallpaper collection that transforms traditional Asian motifs for a contemporary audience with both classic and edgier tastes. Her second wallpaper collection, inspired by a love of travel, launched in the spring of 2015. 2019 brought a collaboration with SA Baxter Hardware on a unique collection entitled "Center Point."
