Christophe Rouillon has extensive experience in local and regional governance, serving as Maire of VILLE DE COULAINES since March 2001 and as a Conseiller départemental for the Département de la Sarthe since March 1998. Additionally, Rouillon has been a member of the European Committee of the Regions since 2005, currently holding the position of President of the European Socialist Group and has held the role of Vice-President for Europe at the Association of French Mayors and Intercommunal Presidents since November 2005. Rouillon has also been involved with Le Mans Métropole as Vice-President in charge of finances and European funding since July 2008, overseeing various responsibilities during the tenure. Educational qualifications include advanced studies in public law and political science, as well as participation in elite leadership programs, such as the ENA and Aspen.
