Steyn Pieter

Steyn Pieter has significant work experience in the legal field, with a focus on the energy industry. Steyn served as the Senior Manager - Legal at Sasol Energy from 2015 onwards. Prior to that, they worked as the Lead Commercial Manager and Chief Legal Adviser at Sasol North America, where they oversaw negotiations and drafting of business contracts for multi-billion dollar chemical and gas projects.

From 2004 to 2009, Pieter held various roles at Sasol Synfuels International (Pty) Ltd., including Chief Legal Adviser and Principle Legal Adviser. During this time, they managed legal functions, provided strategic direction, and facilitated compliance programs for coal and gas projects globally. Steyn also played a key role in the merger between Sasol and Petronas in South Africa.

In the early stages of their career, Pieter worked as a Senior Legal Adviser for Sasol Limited in the Mozambique Natural Gas Project, where they advised on legal aspects, negotiations, and drafting of agreements for a cross-border gas pipeline project. This project won the Africa Project Finance Deal of the Year Award in 2004.

Steyn Pieter holds a Masters in Business Leadership (MBL) from the University of South Africa/Universiteit van Suid-Afrika. Steyn also obtained a Baccelarius Procurationis degree in Law and a Dip-Iuris in Law, both from the same institution.
