Rens Masselink

Director Of Data And Security at Satelligence

Rens Masselink is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in data, security, and remote sensing, currently serving as the Director of Data and Security and R&D lead at Satelligence since October 2017. At Satelligence, Rens focuses on utilizing Earth Observation to enhance food security, detect forest loss, and support smallholder farmers. Prior to this role, Rens served as a COST action Administrator for the COST Association from May 2014 to May 2018, where responsibilities included organizing conferences and managing administrative tasks. Rens also held a position as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Wageningen University & Research from May 2012 to October 2017, contributing to the SPECTORS project, while previously completing a PhD on hydrological and sediment connectivity in the Soil Physics and Land Management Group. Early career experiences include research at HydroLogic and serving as a student assistant at Universiteit Utrecht. Rens holds a Master's degree in Physical Geography and a Bachelor's degree in Earth Sciences, both from Utrecht University.
