Shayne van Asperen

Shayne van Asperen has over 12 years of experience in development and engineering roles. Shayne is currently the Principal Engineer at Phlo Systems, overseeing teams of developers and testers working on an order management system and automated hedging platform for commodity traders. Prior to this, they worked at TradeFundi as a .NET Developer, Quant, Founder, and CTO, where they developed a trading bot web application. Shayne also worked as a Software Engineer contractor at Strike, where they facilitated movements of money within the company. In addition, they held a Senior Engineer role at JUST EAT, leading the migration of teams' components to .NET Core 3.1. Alongside their employment, Shayne also did freelance work for Able & Agile Clarity, developing a P2P jobs market application. Previously, they were a Principal Developer at AppyWay, leading a team of developers building a next-generation global parking platform and at Ticketmaster, where they coached a team of developers and introduced modern development practices. Before that, they performed urgent upgrades and maintenance as a Senior ASP.NET Developer at Alpari (UK) Ltd. Finally, they played a lead role in maintaining and architecting the complete rewrite of the core software for the e-commerce website of eSpares while working as a Senior Developer.

Shayne van Asperen attended Newton Technical High School from 1997 to 1999 where they studied Electrical and Electronics Engineering. From 2003 to 2006, Shayne van Asperen attended Nelson Mandela University and earned a National Diploma in Information Technology. Additionally, they obtained a certification for the same diploma from the institution.
