Ismail Sattar

Ismail Sattar comes to Sattar & Associates with over twenty two years of sales and use tax experience. His career has spanned many areas of expertise, with an emphasis on sales tax compliance and its related components. Ismail’s career started at Arthur Andersen and in 2002 he transferred to Deloitte & Touche where he ran west coast sales and use tax compliance operations. After gaining several years of experience in public accounting, Ismail started his own boutique sales and use tax consulting firm which was subsequently merged with Wealth & Tax Advisory Services (WTAS), a subsidiary of Hong Kong Shanghai Bank Corporation (HSBC).

Ismail headed the national sales and use tax compliance practice for WTAS and Zaldivar, Sattar & Associates prior to starting Sattar & Associates. Ismail has extensive experience in the area of sales and use tax compliance, and working with sales and use tax systems including JD Edwards, Oracle, QAD, SAP, Taxware, Avalara, Taxjar and Vertex.

He also has extensive experience working on sales tax audits, refunds, and issues related to the taxability of transactions. His work has focused on clients in various industries including aerospace, bio-pharmaceutical, construction, gaming, manufacturing & distribution, medical devices, motion pictures, petroleum, retail, software, and telecommunication. Ismail graduated from California State University, Northridge in December of 1997 and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant.
