Samir Boutahar

Samir Boutahar is an experienced professional in the field of hazardous area equipment and compliance, currently serving as the Group Technical Authority at SBM Offshore since July 2011. With a background that includes roles such as Group Ex Manager and Project Ex Technical Manager, Samir leads the company’s strategy on equipment installed in hazardous environments, ensuring adherence to standards like IEC 60079. Samir has managed teams of Ex leads, coordinators, and inspectors, while also providing support to EPC teams and conducting audits. Prior to SBM Offshore, Samir worked at LCIE Bureau Veritas as an Ex Equipment Engineer and Trainer, overseeing international certification projects, and at Davidson Consulting as a Product Engineer. Samir holds an MBA in Energy Business from the International University of Monaco, along with a Master’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and has pursued a PhD in Electrical, Electronics and Communications Engineering.
