Christy Parsons has a diverse work experience in the field of senior care and recreation. Christy started their career in 1996 as a Recreation Coordinator at The Village of Winston Park. Christy then went on to become the Director of Recreation & Volunteer Services at the same organization. In 2006, Christy joined Oakwood Retirement Communities Inc. as a Professional Development Trainer. Christy also worked at Conestoga College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning as an Associate Faculty for Recreation & Leisure Services. At the college, they also served as the Program Coordinator for Recreation Management for Older Adults- Post Graduate Level. Currently, Christy is working at Schlegel Villages, where they have held various roles such as Recreation & Community Partnerships Consultant, Director of Support Office Services, Vice President of Support Services, and is currently serving as the Vice President of People.
Christy Parsons has a diverse education history. In 1994 to 1996, they attended Conestoga College where they obtained a Recreation Leadership Diploma with a focus on Recreation & Leisure Services. Christy later pursued further education in 1997 at Conestoga College, where they took a Post Graduate Course in Fundraising for Community Non-Profit Organizations. In 1998 to 1999, Christy attended Wilfrid Laurier University, where they studied the Organizational Functions of Business in a course. Moving forward, from 2004 to 2009, they pursued a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree at Brock University, specializing in Adult Education. Most recently, in the year 2020, they attended the University of Toronto - Rotman School of Management for the Strategic Human Resources Management Program (SHRM)-Rotman Executive Program.
