Enlai Hooi has had a diverse work experience in the field of architecture and design. Starting as a Design Assistant at Arup in 2003, they then worked as an architectural designer at UNStudio in 2008. Enlai then joined Space Group Arkitekter as an Architect in 2011 and later moved to MDT-tex in 2013 as the Creative Director. From 2017 to 2019, Enlai Hooi worked as an Architect at 3XN/GXN. Currently, they are working at SHL - Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architects, where they have held the roles of Head of Industrial Design and Head of Innovation since 2019 and 2020 respectively.

Enlai Hooi's education history includes a Masters degree in Architecture from RMIT University, which was obtained between the years 2006 and 2010. Prior to that, Enlai Hooi completed a degree in Industrial Design with first class honours at Swinburne University of Technology from 1997 to 2001.

In addition to their formal education, Enlai Hooi has obtained certifications in the field. They are a Living Future Associate (LFA) from the International Living Future Institute, which was achieved in October 2022. Enlai Hooi is also a WELL AP (Architectural Professional) certified by the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI), certified in December 2021.
