Jeff Lewis has over 20 years of experience in the GIS field. In 1999, they began their career as a GIS Intern at Frontier Labs. In 2000, they were a GIS Intern at Planning and Development District III, where they GPS'd, analyzed and edited roads in Charles Mix, Gregory and Douglas counties in South Dakota, and collected address point data for rural 9-1-1 addressing. In 2001, they were a GIS Intern at MJ Harden. From 2002 to 2011, they were employed by Bay County and held various roles including Assistant IT & GIS Director, Communications Division Manager, and E9-1-1 GIS Specialist. From 2011 to 2018, they worked at The Schneider Corporation, first as a GIS Project Manager and then as a GIS Insourcing (Staff Augmentation) Manager. In 2015, they became a GIS Subcommittee Member at the Iowa Department of Revenue - Business Property Tax Credit (BPTC) and their initial goal was to effectively enable Iowa Department of Revenue (IDR) to fulfill its statutory obligation under Iowa Code Chapter 426C. 7. In 2013, they became a Committee Member at the Next Generation 9-1-1 Technical Advisory Group of Iowa, where they provided input on all things GIS to aid Iowa's decision makers. In 2018, they began working as a GIS Insourcing (Staff Augmentation) Manager at Schneider Geospatial.

Jeff Lewis has an education history that includes a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Geography from Northwest Missouri State University from 1998 to 2001, an Associate of Science (AS) from North Iowa Area Community College from 1997 to 1998, and attendance at Hastings College from 1996 to 1997. Additionally, they have obtained several certifications, including the National Response Plan (ICS 800) from FEMA in June 2007, ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents (ICS 200) from FEMA in January 2007, National Incident Management System (NIMS) (ICS 700) from FEMA in October 2006, Introduction to the Incident Command System (ICS 100) from FEMA in May 2006, GISP from the GIS Certification Institute in January 2015, and ENP from NENA: The 9-1-1 Association in October 2008.
