Our firm represents a diverse clientele, including Fortune 500 companies, in the areas of foreclosure, bankruptcy, eviction, loss mitigation, title resolution and complex litigation matters.

Position Overview:

We are currently seeking an experienced Litigation Attorney to join our team in Michigan. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in mortgage, mortgage default, title, and real estate-associated litigation. This role requires knowledge and expertise in judicial and non-judicial  residential foreclosure actions, title curative, and asset recovery matters.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of complex litigation matters related to mortgage, mortgage default, title, general real estate and collections

  • Conduct legal research, drafting pleadings, motions, and other legal documents

  • Represent clients in hearings, trials, and other legal proceedings

  • Collaborate with Fortune 500 Legal Departments on litigation matters

  • Provide strategic advice and counsel to clients on litigation-related issues

-Manage escalated matters and review, evaluate high risk litigation, and provide recommendations to senior management

-Remains current and knowledgeable about applicable legislation, case law and administrative rulings, as well as pending legislation and administrative regulations pertinent to the areas of law the firm practices.

  • Knowledge of federal and state laws impacting mortgage servicing such as TILA, FDCPA, RESPA and Fair Housing Act, the Homeowners Protection Act and predatory lending laws is preferred

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

  • Admission to the Michigan State Bar

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience practicing law, with a focus on mortgage, mortgage default, title, and real estate litigation

  • Strong understanding of judicial and non-judicial residential foreclosure actions, title curative, and asset recovery matters

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with clients and colleagues

  • Practice management skills preferred
