Samantha Nicholls

Sr. Director of Protein Sciences and Antibody Engineering at Scholar Rock

Samantha Nicholls has a diverse range of work experience. Samantha started their career as a Summer Intern in Quality Control at Mylan Technologies Inc. (MTI) in 2005, and also gained research experience as an Undergrad Researcher at the University of Vermont during the same time. In 2007, they joined the University of Massachusetts Amherst as a Graduate Student in the Chemistry department, where they focused on protein structural biology. Samantha completed their role as a Graduate Student in 2012.

Afterwards, Samantha worked as an Adjunct Professor at North Shore Community College for a few months in 2012, before joining the Massachusetts General Hospital as a Neurology Postdoctoral Research Fellow. Samantha spent four years in that role, from 2012 to 2016.

Since 2016, Samantha has been working at Scholar Rock, where they have held various positions. Samantha started as a Scientist in 2016 and advanced to Senior Scientist I in 2018, Senior Scientist II in 2019, and Associate Director in 2020. From 2021 to 2023, they served as the Director of Protein Sciences, and then was promoted to Senior Director of Protein Sciences and Antibody Engineering. Samantha is currently in that position.

It is worth noting that Samantha's role at Scholar Rock is ongoing, with no specified end date.

Samantha Nicholls earned a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Massachusetts Amherst from 2007 to 2012. Prior to that, they obtained a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Vermont, where they studied from 2003 to 2007.
