Deanna Holitzki

Deanna Holitzki is the current Director of Instruction - Equity and Inclusion at School District 8 Kootenay Lake. Prior to this, they spent 8 years with the school district as the Director of Human Resources. In this role, they were responsible for human resources, labour relations, and the development of human capacity with regard to human resource functions within a public school district context. This included performing an advisory and management role with regard to the implementation, interpretation and administration of collective agreements and excluded contracts and related labour legislation; liaising with unionized and excluded employee groups including negotiations; developing and implementing the strategic plan for Human Resource Services; managing Human Resource aspects of organizational change; supervising and evaluating Human Resource Services staff; developing and implementing Human Resource Services policies and procedures; forecasting district staffing needs; ensuring compliance with relevant legislative requirements; and supporting employee wellness.

Deanna Holitzki has a Master of Education from the University of Portland in Educational Leadership and Administration, a Bachelor of Education from The University of British Columbia in Secondary Education and Teaching, and a Bachelor of Arts from The University of British Columbia in English and Mathematics.

They work with Ben Eaton - Director of Instruction - Innovative Learning, Michael McLellan - Secretary-Treasurer / CFO, and Chandra Singh - Director of Human Resources. Their manager is Trish Smillie, Superintendent of Schools / CEO.
