Joy Lesnick currently serves as the Deputy Chief for Research, Evaluation, and Academic Partnership in the Office of Research and Evaluation at The School District of Philadelphia, a position held since January 2017, after previously holding the title of Director in the same office. Prior experience includes various roles at the U.S. Department of Education from April 2011 to December 2016, culminating in the position of Acting Commissioner of the National Center for Education Evaluation and Regional Assistance. Additional research roles were conducted at Chapin Hall at the University of Chicago and the Consortium on Chicago School Research, along with a postdoctoral fellowship at Peabody College, Vanderbilt University. Lesnick holds a PhD in Education Policy from the University of Pennsylvania, an MEd in Early Childhood/Elementary Education from Rutgers University, and a BA in History from Rutgers University. Early career experience includes teaching 4th grade in Colts Neck and Quakertown Consolidated School Districts.
