Mike O'Loughlin has extensive work experience in marketing, communications, and advertising. Mike started their career as a Writer and Reviewer for various freelance projects in 1981. Mike then worked as a Magazine Editor for Lake Publishing Corporation from 1985 to 1988 and as a Magazine Editor for the National Association of Realtors from 1988 to 1989. Mike later served as an Advertising Copywriter for Bentley, Barnes & Lynn Advertising from 1989 to 1994 and as a Senior Editor for the Healthcare Financial Management Association from 1994 to 1996. Mike then worked as a Creative Director/Advertising & P.R. Copywriter for Invsco Marketing & Advertising from 1996 to 1998. From 1998 to 2010, they were the Director of Associated Publications for Living Church Foundation. In 2010, they became an Advertising and Public Relations Copywriter for Seroka until 2011 when they became the Director of Marketing and Communications for School Sisters of St. Francis.

Mike O'Loughlin attended St. Thomas More High School in Milwaukee from 1977 to 1981. Following their high school education, they studied at the University of Minnesota from 1981 to 1984, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism.
