Mara Spears is a dedicated program specialist with extensive experience in sustainability and environmental education. Currently serving at the Groundswell Stewardship Initiative since March 2023, Mara has also worked at Schuler Books as a book seller since September 2019. Previous roles include program specialist at Grand Valley State University from February 2020 to January 2023, creative designer and support staff at Gigi and LaClede, and sustainability program coordinator at Michigan State University Sustainability. Additionally, Mara gained valuable experience as an environmental education and recycling intern at the West Michigan Environmental Action Council and as a green team intern and sustainability specialist at Grand Valley State University. Mara holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Grand Valley State University, earned in 2018.
