Chandima Hemachandra

Chandima Hemachandra is currently the CTO at Scicom MSC Bhd. Prior to this, Chandima was Chief Officer - Information at Sri Lanka Insurance from February 2009 to January 2011. In this role, Chandima was in charge of IT at Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation Ltd (SLIC).

SLIC is the oldest and strongest insurance service provider in Sri Lanka. It was incorporated in 1961 by a special Act in the Parliament when all insurance companies were nationalized. In 1993, it was incorporated as a limited liability company wholly owned by the Government.

For more than 40 years, it continued operations as a state owned institute despite the liberalization of the industry back in 1986. Subsequently, SLIC was privatized in 2003 and nationalised again in June 2009. As a composite insurance provider, SLIC is engaged in both Life & Non life insurance business including travel and health insurance solutions.

SLIC provides a tailor made product portfolio which caters to individual, small and medium businesses & corporate customers. SLIC is the insurance company that has the largest branch network in Sri Lanka. As a single company, it also has the largest financial portfolio in the country.

Chandima Hemachandra received a certificate in Senior Management from the Standard Bank Management Training Centre. Chandima also has a certificate in Training on Credit/Debit Card Systems from Arksys in Arkansas, USA. Additionally, Chandima has a certificate in Engineering & Management from the UCLA Anderson School of Management. Chandima holds a Master of Science in Computer Science from the University of Colombo and also has a certificate in Data Security and Contingency Planning from the IBM Educational Centre in Jakarta, Indonesia. Furthermore, Chandima has a certificate in Information Technology from the IBM Educational Centre in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Chandima also has a certificate in NOVELL NetWare from Keells Business Systems Ltd. in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Finally, Chandima has a BSc (Hons) in Mathematics and Computer Science from Middlesex University. Chandima also has A Levels & O Levels from Royal College in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Their manager is Leo Ariyanayakam, CEO. They are on a team with Benny Philip - COO, Business Process Outsourcing, Wong Yee Ling - SVP, Internal Audit Risk & Governance, and Kelvin Loke Cheong Hian - CFO.
