Kate Muise serves as the Chief Executive Officer at Science New Zealand since April 2024, following a notable tenure at the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment where Kate held various roles including Manager of Specialised Investments. In that position, Kate oversaw large-scale government investments aimed at enhancing research and development in New Zealand. Prior to this, Kate was a Senior Science and Innovation Officer at the British High Commission, contributing to international collaborations for UK economic growth. Kate's early career included policy roles at the Ministry for Primary Industries and a PhD in Plant Molecular Biology from Victoria University of Wellington, alongside experiences as an exam supervisor and laboratory demonstrator during academic tenure.
