Maya El Toukhy

Maya El Toukhy is an accomplished founder and president of the University of St Andrews Cardiology Society, which aims to enhance students' understanding of cardiology. Currently, Maya is engaged as a researcher in the Benzo Research Project and as a content writer for Scientia News. Previous experiences include an internship at Fakeeh University Hospital, where Maya shadowed a consultant interventional cardiologist and gained skills in interpreting ECGs and echocardiograms. Additionally, Maya contributed to HerHygiene by writing articles that challenged menstrual taboos and promoted menstrual health education. Internships at King's College Hospital London – UAE and GULF DRUG LLC provided further exposure to medical practice. Maya is pursuing a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at the University of Manchester and a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Medicine at the University of St Andrews, following a high school diploma from GEMS Education.
