Kara Killam

Unreal Artist at Scorpion Design

Kara Killam has a background in both Unreal artistry and web design. Kara first worked as a Web Designer at Scorpion from January 2014 to January 2018. In this role, they created customized websites for clients, collaborating with coders, writers, and project managers to ensure client satisfaction. Starting in February 2020, Kara worked as an Unreal Artist at LOCAL HERO POST. Here, they imported assets into UE4, designed 3D environments, and created particle effects and blueprints for film integration. Kara also collaborated closely with VFX supervisors and compositors to maintain consistent and high-quality shots. Additionally, Kara had another stint as an Unreal Artist at Scorpion, starting in August 2020.

Kara Killam attended the Gnomon School of Visual Effects, Games + Animation from 2018 to 2020, where they pursued a degree in 3D Modeling and Texturing for Games with a focus on Real-time 3D Environment Art. In addition to their degree, Kara has obtained several certifications in various graphic design and software courses. Kara completed certifications such as Graphic Design Foundations: Color, Maya 2020 Essential Training, Maya: Advanced Modeling, Photoshop 2021 Essential Training: Photography, Photoshop 2021 Essential Training: The Basics, Photoshop: Tips and Quick Fixes, Substance Painter 2019 Essential Training, Unreal Engine: Post Process Effects, Unreal Essential Training (2019), Building a Coaching Culture: Improving Performance Through Timely Feedback, and Giving and Receiving Feedback. The certification courses were completed in November 2020, except for the coaching and feedback courses, which were obtained in September 2020.
