Colin Smith is a seasoned coastal specialist currently serving as a Senior Scientist at the Scottish Environment Protection Agency since February 2017, with responsibilities focused on coastal flood forecasting and the enhancement of forecasting capabilities in Scotland. Prior to this role, Colin participated in a two-year trainee program at SEPA as a Scientist and Trainee Hydrometeorologist, gaining significant experience in hydrometric data collection and quality checking. Colin also completed a placement as a Trainee Operational Meteorologist at the Met Office, where foundational knowledge in atmospheric dynamics and thermodynamics was acquired. Earlier retail experience includes roles at The Co-op, Debenhams, and Kitty Hawk Kites, Inc., demonstrating strong customer service and supervisory skills. Colin holds a Master of Science in Oceanography from the University of Southampton and a Bachelor of Science in Geography and Environmental Science from the University of Dundee.
