Alexander Latto

Assistant Head Groundsman at Scottish Rugby Union

Alexander Latto has a diverse work experience in the field of grounds management. Alexander started their career as an Assistant Head Groundsman at the Scottish Rugby Union in 2011, where they managed the maintenance of the Desso Grassmaster stadium pitch and gained experience in multi-use conversion and surface recovery. In 2016, they took on the role of Head Groundsman (Secondment) for the Glasgow Warriors, where they delivered match and training pitches and implemented a maintenance program.

Prior to their work at the Scottish Rugby Union, Alexander Latto was self-employed as a Franchise Owner of a lawn care franchise from 2009 to 2011. Alexander managed all aspects of the business, including securing new business, customer relationships, and finance and marketing strategies.

Furthermore, they served as the Head Groundsman/Stadium Manager at Raith Rovers Football Club Limited from 2007 to 2009. In this role, they managed the playing surface within a tight budget and was recognized as the IOG Scottish Groundsman of the Year runner-up (2nd Division). Alexander was responsible for all aspects of maintenance around the stadium and grounds.

Alexander Latto began their education in the field of sports turf maintenance at Elmwood College in 1999, where they obtained an SVQ Level 2 in Sports Turf Maintenance. Alexander continued their education at the same institution in 2006 and acquired an SVQ Level 3 in Sports Turf Management. In 2016, Alexander attended the Institute of Groundsmanship and earned a Level 4 professional certificate in Turf Surface Management.
