Alex Longo

Director - Scouting Operations at Scouts Canada

Alex Longo has a diverse work experience that includes roles in leadership, coaching, entrepreneurship, and event coordination. Most recently, they served as the Director of Scouting Operations at Scouts Canada, where they achieved a significant increase in youth membership and improved program delivery. Prior to this, they worked as a Regional Manager at Scouts Canada, successfully restructuring a team and improving productivity. They also worked as a Course Facilitator at Crucial Learning, specializing in effective communication and conflict resolution. Additionally, they served as a Wellness Coach at the Canadian Mental Health Association and as a Manager at the Morris Foundation, where they focused on strategic partnerships and research. Earlier in their career, they founded and led their own business, Cracked Coconut Butters, achieving impressive growth. They also worked as an Athletic Trainer at the Ontario Police College and as a Game Day Coordinator and Athletic Facilities Assistant at the University of Waterloo.

Alex Longo completed a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Recreation, Leisure, and Business Management from the University of Waterloo between 2008 and 2013. In addition to their degree, Alex has obtained several certifications including Crucial Conversations for Accountability from Vital Smarts in August 2022, Management Fundamentals from McLean & Company in March 2021, Applied Suicide Prevention Training (ASIST) from LivingWorks in June 2018, and Mental Health First Aid from Mental Health First Aid Canada in June 2018.
