Gary Vancil Jr

Gary Vancil Jr is an experienced Project Director at SCS Engineers since January 2022. Prior to this role, Gary served as Senior Geologist of Midwest Operations and Environmental Engineer at The American Coal Company, Inc./Foresight Energy from August 2011 to January 2022, where responsibilities included managing junior geologists and engineers, conducting reserve evaluations, and ensuring environmental compliance for mining operations across Illinois, Utah, and Western Kentucky. Earlier roles included Logging Geologist at Weatherford, where training new hires and generating geologic prognoses were key duties, and Field Geologist at Illinois State Geological Survey, focusing on field mapping and seismic modeling. Gary holds a Master's degree in Geology and a Bachelor of Science in Geology, both from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.
