Ruben Smolders

Ruben Smolders has a diverse work experience in the field of IT development and management. Ruben started their career at K.U.Leuven as a Project Collaborator before joining Acerta as a Young Professional. At Acerta, they worked as a Project Manager for Business Development and later became a Product Manager for IT Development. In 2009, Ruben joined SD Worx as a Unit Manager for IT Development and then progressed to become the Supply Manager for IT Development Belgium, responsible for strategy, budget, service delivery, and HR. Ruben also held the positions of Head of IT Development and ITS Agile/DevOps Transformation Lead at SD Worx, where they led various IT development activities and was involved in an agile transformation project for the IT department. Currently, Ruben is working as the Products Director, leading the product development of payroll and reward applications at SD Worx Belgium. Ruben manages a department with a 25 million budget and 250 employees, reporting to the Chief Product Officer. Ruben has expertise in technologies such as Angular, .NET, C#, SQL, DB2, and COBOL.

Ruben Smolders began their education at St.-Jozefscollege from 1996 to 1998, where they pursued a Latin-Mathematics degree. Ruben then went on to attend KU Leuven from 1999 to 2003, where they obtained a Master's degree in History. Later, in 2010 to 2011, Smolders attended Vlerick Business School for the Young Management Programme. In 2018 to 2020, they enrolled at Antwerp Management School, completing an Executive MBA in Business Administration and Management.
