Ryan Smith

Ryan Smith has a diverse work experience, starting with their current role as an Outside Plant Engineer at SDN Communications since March 2021. Prior to that, they worked as an Engineer at the Wyoming Department of Transportation from May 2020 to March 2021. From 2009 to 2020, Ryan served as the Pool Manager at the City of Rapid City, where they were responsible for scheduling lifeguard shifts, providing guidelines and disciplinary actions, and supervising staff. Ryan also organized and led staff inservices during their tenure. Additionally, Ryan worked as an Undergraduate Researcher at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology from May 2019 to August 2019. Before that, they served as an Accountant (Parks & Recreation) at the City of Rapid City from May 2018 to March 2019, handling revenue collection, reconciling tills, and solving software issues. Lastly, Ryan was an Assistant Head Coach at Rapid City Racers from August 2011 to August 2016, where they planned workouts for swim age groups, attended meets, and temporarily took over all coaching responsibilities.

Ryan Smith attended South Dakota Mines from 2014 to 2020, where they obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management. In May 2019, they obtained certification as an American Red Cross Lifeguard Safety Instructor from the City of Rapid City.
