Julian Runbeck has a diverse work experience. Julian started their career at Fargo.net as the owner, where they managed and grew a customer base. After that, they worked as a PC Technician, Installer, and Developer as a freelancer, performing contract work in various areas. Julian then joined the US Army as an Information Management Officer, gaining responsibility in IT security, systems automation, and maintenance. Julian then moved on to Starbucks Coffee Company as an EHD Computer Systems Analyst, where they analyzed technical issues and provided support. Julian also worked at Microsoft as a Technical Analyst II, where they rolled out candidate tracking systems and served as a resource for staffing. At REI, they joined as a SAP Analyst 2, creating new articles and training staff on SAP processes. Julian then returned to Microsoft as a SharePoint Site Administrator and later as a Technical Systems Architect, saving the company money and contributing to the team's strategy. Most recently, Julian co-founded Seattle New Media, where they built and maintained web applications using NoCode tools and worked with the team to understand customer requirements.

Julian Runbeck attended North Dakota State University where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a focus on Science. Julian also participated in the Enactus competition, which was part of their degree program. Prior to attending university, Julian graduated from Irondale High School. Julian later returned to North Dakota State University and completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Management with an emphasis in marketing. Additionally, Julian holds a certification as an AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate from the Kryterion Testing Network.
