Carlene J. Brown is a seasoned music professor and therapist with extensive experience in academia and community engagement. Currently serving as a Co-Investigator for a music-based treatment study at the University of Washington's Department of Rehabilitation, Carlene has held numerous prominent roles at the University of Washington, including Professor of Music, Chair of the Faculty Senate, and Director of the Music Therapy Program, since 2005. Additionally, Carlene contributed to St. Brendan's Parish as an organist until 2020 and directed programs for the Seattle Theatre Group until 2017. As a board member and chair of the curriculum committee for Leadership Tomorrow Seattle, Carlene demonstrated leadership in community initiatives. Carlene's academic journey culminated in a Ph.D. in Systematic Musicology from the University of Washington, where education was completed between 1982 and 1991.
