Richard Gabbert is a legal professional with extensive experience in securities regulation and derivatives policy, currently serving as the Chief of Staff for the Crypto Task Force and Senior Advisor to the Acting Chairman at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission since August 2011. Previous roles include Counsel to Commissioner Hester M. Peirce and Senior Special Counsel in the Office of Derivatives Policy, where Richard developed regulations for OTC derivatives markets in accordance with the Dodd-Frank Act. Richard's background also encompasses international experience as a Mansfield Fellow, working with Japanese regulatory agencies, and various legal positions, including an attorney at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP and Heller Ehrman LLP, where representation in securities litigation was provided.
